CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple announced the debut of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, emphasizing significant upgrades in camera technology, performance, and battery life. New Pro controls within the Camera app allow users to modify settings such as aperture, shutter speed, and white balance. A histogram can also be viewed during photo or video composition for better exposure management.
Apple has also rolled out Reference Image, a feature that users can opt into to authenticate their photographs. When capturing images in Reference mode, sensor data is signed and stored, creating a reference image that can be compared with edited versions in the Photos app. The company plans to support image metadata and the SynthID standard, with SynthID support expected via a software update later in 2026.
Enhanced camera controls with variable aperture
Built on a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, the A20 Pro chip features a six-core CPU and a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores for AI processing. Apple claims that the GPU offers performance improvements of up to 40% over the A19 Pro. The models incorporate a redesigned vapor chamber that boosts surface area and sustains high performance. Connectivity enhancements include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support via Apple’s N1 wireless chip.
Battery life has also been extended across the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple rates the eSIM-only versions of the Pro for up to 36 hours of video playback. The Pro Max offers up to 45 hours under similar conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro can reach 50% charge in roughly 15 minutes when using compatible wired charging accessories. The removal of the physical SIM tray allows for additional battery space in eSIM-only models, which will be introduced in several Middle Eastern markets.
Siri AI arrives with iOS 27
Preloaded with iOS 27, the new devices support Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence. Siri AI enters beta testing on September 14 for supported devices configured in English. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled to be available by October. The software can utilize personal context from messages, emails, and photos to process requests effectively. Additionally, it can respond to content displayed on the screen. Apple Intelligence employs on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute for cloud-based tasks where supported.
Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro begins at $1,199 in the United States, while the Pro Max starts at $1,299. Both models offer storage options of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Color choices include burgundy, glacier, silver, and black. In the UAE, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at AED 5,099. Preorders open on September 12, with availability from September 18. An additional 20 countries and regions are scheduled to receive the new devices on September 25.
