EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have activated a five-year agreement for wheat supply valued at up to US$500 million. This accord transitions a 2023 financial framework into an operational import arrangement for Egypt. Under this agreement, Al Dahra will provide imported wheat to GASC with financing secured through the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. It also sets out the procedures for procurement under that existing funding program.

The signing of the agreement occurred at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026, with Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also leads GASC, present at the ceremony. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, was also in attendance. The statement did not specify details regarding wheat quantities, shipment schedules, wheat origins, or the pricing method for purchases made through this arrangement.
The financial structure traces back to August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities launched a revolving program for importing wheat. ADEX established this program with a funding cap of US$100 million, renewable annually for five years, with the potential to reach US$500 million in total. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in forming this initial setup. The 2026 supply agreement now serves as the operational basis for GASC’s purchases from Al Dahra within this financing framework.
Operationalization of the 2023 Financing Framework
ADEX, the export-finance branch of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, provides funding linked to transactions involving Emirati exporters. In 2023, the office announced that its Egypt facility would support wheat and other essential goods supplied through Al Dahra. The five-year transaction structure was created for those imports, with GASC acting as the purchasing entity. The recent agreement maintains this structure while establishing operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.
Since entering Egypt in 2007, Al Dahra has maintained agricultural activities in Toshka and East Oweinat. As of 2023, the company reported farming approximately 28,000 hectares within the country and supplying over 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government over the previous three years. Additionally, Al Dahra indicated this week that its broader agricultural network now reaches more than 40 markets globally.
Al Dahra’s Egyptian Operations Since 2007
The agreement signed in August 2026 pertains to imported wheat, while Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities locally. In 2023, the company described itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector wheat and corn producer, with approximately 85% of its Egyptian farm output entering the domestic market at that time. The new deal concerns wheat imported through the ADEX program for GASC, rather than a separate US$500 million financing arrangement announced publicly.
This five-year agreement implements the financing framework announced three years prior, rather than establishing an additional US$500 million facility. Both Al Dahra and GASC have not disclosed the total tonnage of wheat covered, nor have they published detailed shipment schedules, origin breakdowns, or pricing formulas. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the confirmed plan remains a five-year wheat supply program valued at up to US$500 million through the ADEX financing scheme.
